A small view of LIFE !

Life is not something you just live to count days, life is much more than this. Your attitude towards life reflects how you you view and live life. If you believe life is a matter of tiredness and don't have a real goal to work for, you wont's be happy. Satisfaction in this life is dependent on how you see your self after few years, what goals your setting to reform and shape your life the way you dream of. Without having goals in life, life is meaningless.

When you believe you can do something even if no one encouraged you to do it, you'll reach it, but just don't give up and have persistence , patience and a strong will so nobody can underestimate you or what you can do. Be your own guidance in this life so you wont end up with misery and satisfactions.

The Bless of Books

I'm that kind of a girl who loves to explore the world through reading. Reading is not just a matter for being open to new things but it enhances my knowledge for understanding, judging and evaluating most of the things around us.

As everybody knows, technology is spreading up and developing so fast, however, books are now more available as software copies which eases our access to them if someone can't get the hard copy.

Reading played a great role in shaping my life and my thoughts towards life , people and everything around. when I hold a book to read, I feel I'm holding a minimized world between hands.

Sometimes I feel so desperate and down, what really relieves me is a good empowering book.

Recently I had a fight with mom, since she saw me buying and collecting a big number of books and not having the needed time to read them all, in addition to having them spread among all my room's corner which made mommy angry. However , even if I don't have time to read all the books I'm buying, but I love to get new books and I'll find the right moments to read them sooner or later.

My advice to you, the best friend you can ever have is a book.

The Importance of Milk !

As a kindergarten teacher I need to apply different methods and strategies to enhance student's learning. however, the lesson this day was about the impoprtance of milk and it's products for our health in addition to identifying the concept of white color.

What I did is the after explaining to students why it's necessary to drink milk on a daily basis, I designed an activity that is fun and interesting to their age which help them practice doing things with their hands and enhances their physical momevents and strengthen their muscles in addition to having some feeling of independent by allowing them to work with cartoons and white papers along with my guidance and directions to design their own cups of milk.

The activity also aimed at assessing students' understanding and relating the color "white" and make it meaningful to them by connecting it to a concept which is the milk, the thing that makes it more meaningful to them and more comrehensive and enduring.

The results were amazing. Students learned and understood the importance of drinking milk in addtion to the emphasize of "white color" that was successfully learned and understood for mostly all students.

Psychodrama workshop !

My dr. in university had played an important role in encouraging us to attend this kind of workshop. However I got really motivated, but the problem I had faced on that day is that I have work; since I am a teacher and I can't leave my job for only urgent reasons. However I tried to talk to my admisntartor to allow me to leave at 10:30 and I explained to her how imprortant is this workshop for improving and empowering my knowledge with respect to dealing with all kinds of students , especially for focusing on how you deal and treat students with certain problems. After much effort my adminstrator had agreed on allowing me to attend this workshop. It was really  effecient and valuable till the extent that it deserves my time. On that day learning happened through practicing certain kinds of activities . One amazing activity was about covering our eyes and having a partnere whom we don't know to lead us and walk with us around. That activity aimed at focusing on the importance of giving trust to others and basically undersatnding that trust needs to come from within us first to be given to others later on.

The ONE kind: Arabic Women Conference

When I think about all these beautiful things or events I had the chance to do in this university (Lebanese International University) I feel so blessed to be part of what I can called a committee that goes under the guidance and nurture of miss Rasha in which I give her all love, respect and greets since she gave us the opportunity to join such credible events.

However, this event was one of it's kind. we got the chance to hear and listen attentively to various kinds of sessions that was really special, since there were parties from different countries of the world who gathered in specific sessions to present and share their opinion in the presence of a group leader that leads the session. That was really talented and interesting. The flow of ideas went so smoothly till the extent that I was kind of listening with all my senses.

The conference targeted many topics towards women. its main concern and basic idea was about giving and treating women in the way they deserve. It also emphasizes the importance role that some religions gave to women in their holy books in addition to many developed countries that gave women their rights and treat them equally as men. Contrary many other countries are used to treat women so badly in which women feel inferior in their society and this will reflect on the coming generations, so we need to reconsider and reeducate people to think differently of women and encourage them and emphasize the deep and precious role the woman have in empowering society.

I felt many people were impressed by this conference. I with to have more similar events and conferences that could play a role in changing and developing our society to think more rationally and value women and give them their rights.

My Philosophy Survey

During this course we were exposed to plenty of information about different kinds of philosophies that are both western and eastern. However this survey was done based on different types of philosophers who had their own thoughts and philosophies toward educational curriculum. However I had to do this small survey that consists of 24 questions and was distributed among 2 schools in which 18 teachers had accepted to participate an fill in this simple survey. My questioner had a specific purpose in which I was able to hopefully identify what kinds of philosophies that teachers use as they purchase teaching.
My objective was to check the effects of years of experience among different types of teachers that vary between science, Math, Geography, Art and handcraft, English and Arabic as well.
However the analysis of this survey is divided into 4 parts . 1st part is about Science , Math, Geography, Arts and Science teachers who had experienced teaching from 1-4 years. What I noticed about this group is that they tend to be more idealist more than all other groups. They a percent of 66 for following the idealist philosophy in which they base most of their teaching acts on intuition and thinking, which is less in the percentage than those teachers of same subjects but with more years of experience that varies between 5 to 10 years. These last mentioned used to be more eastern in their philosophical educational curriculum. However this result is dependence and based on the increasing years of experience in which old experienced teachers used to be more stick to the eastern philosophy. On the other hand a same percent of teachers that has a percent of 14 that is equally distributed among two types of philosophies which are the pragmatic and the realistic ones.

For another two different groups that I had to distinguish between the constant subjects  Arabic and English, but with different variability which are related to years of experience. One of them is for teachers who experienced teaching from 1-4, the other one in from 5-25 years of experience. Accordingly, the first group as I discovered, tends to be more capable of applying principles and thoughts of modern philosophy which is the pragmatic philosophy. Teachers who follow this philosophy in their educational system and curriculum tends to rely on allowing and encourage students to experience everything and learn by themselves. This didn't have a very high percentage but it’s the highest among the use of pragmatic philosophy in all other groups that I've mentioned previously which is 22% . However my survey revealed yet that the highest percentage of teachers whose under this set (1-4 years of experience) are being mostly idealist in their application of teaching philosophies. In addition only 14% of these teachers tends to apply the eastern philosophy, which is a very low percent in comparison with other groups. This shows that new teachers tend to follow and adopt the western philosophies more that the eastern one. But on the other hand 24% of these teachers are adopting the realistic philosophy in which they rely on matter and mind as a way for teaching and encourage students to use mind and matter over thinking and intuition which is the main principle in the realistic philosophy. This percentage was only shown in this specified group of  Arabic and English teachers  who are new in their teaching mission.
For the final group which is related to Arabic and English  teachers whose been teaching from 5-25 years old whom tend to mostly adopt the idealist philosophy which had the highest percentage among this group 46%. This shows that old and relatively more experienced teachers are with the applicable use of thinking and intuition over matter and mind, which is an old philosophy but as we saw its being highly used among several groups that I had the survey on. In contrary a same range of percentage which is 12 only is distributed among two types of philosophies the pragmatic and realistic ones. I was surprised for having such contradictory results maybe this is due to distributing the survey sheets among two different schools of different cultures and way of life. I noticed that culture play an important role in the teaching strategy and use of philosophies, since realistic is a very old philosophy while pragmatic is a new one that had old base, but it still a modern philosophy that is not widely adopted by teachers and specifically old literate teachers.
What is obviously discovered among this group in comparison to the other ones is its highest percentage of teachers who are following the eastern philosophy 30%. Actually it’s a high surprising result which shows that the more experienced teacher and specially the literature teachers are tending to be more eastern curriculum teachers.

Learning About Different Kinds Of Food

As a way to enhance and enrich my students knowledge about basic things we have in life, I had to make teaching different than the traditional way. instead of asking students to look at their books and see different kinds of food that our body needs as a basic for survival, I switched it to make teaching something reliable and relevant to students real life. however I asked students to bring each one of them one different kind of food related to fruits, vegetables ..

Then I classified each food group into a zone where students are seated around. 1st I closed their eyes and asked them to taste some food and guess what the food they ate tasted like ! they learned about different taste and different types of basic food as well.

It was an interesting and exciting strategy that I used to teach these youngsters in more irregular and special way.

My advice to new teachers is to try as much as they can more real life oriented tasks to make teaching more relevant and meaningful to students. Hope you liked it :)
